The board of School Governors are key to ensuring the effectiveness of Hook Junior School.

Working closely with school staff, Governors provide strategic leadership and accountability. They set the aims and objectives for the School and the targets for achieving them. Governors set the policies associated with these aims and monitor progress towards their achievement. School Governors act as a sounding board for ideas and second opinions, offer both challenge and support to the school, and hold the school to account for the quality of education it provides.

The Governing Body at Hook Junior School is supported by associate members and a clerk. This includes members comprising of school staff, parents or carers of children who currently attend Hook Junior School, representatives of the local community and members appointed by the Local Authority. You can find more about us individually on the Meet the Governors page.

The different categories of Governor help to ensure that the Governing Body has sufficient diversity of views and experience. Above all we are here to help the school to provide the best possible education for its pupils and collectively we are legally responsible for this.

There is more information on the Governor Vacancies page. Full details of what the Department of Education expects can be found in the Governor's Handbook and Competency Framework. Regular communication from the Governors is shared via the schools existing newlsetters, both weekly and termly.
