We have prepared a selection of resources for parents designed to help you become familiar with Hook Junior School before your child joins us in September 2020. We hope these resources answer some of the questions that you may have as a year 3 parent.

Arrangements for a full return to school in September 2020
We have published detailed guidance for all parents and carers in our letter 'Full Opening to all Pupils on 7th September 2020' . The document explains arrangements for the full opening of school in September 2020 and includes specific details for all parents regarding morning arrival and afternoon collection, attendance expectations and class arrangments. In the event that Government advice changes during the summer break, our arrangements may be updated and if this becomes the case, we will let you know.
Additional information about your child
We require additional information from you in order to fully support you and your child when they attend. This includes emergency contact inforamtion and medical information.
If you have not already done so, please complete our new pupil data collection survey. Please complete all sections as fully as possible. In the event that some information is missing from your answers, we will contact you to request this.
Administrative overview
School administrative staff will be supporting teachers at school in many ways. We have summarised key administration aspects for you in a presentation . We hope this information will aspects of attending school that extend beyond the classroom, including school meals, uniform and first aid.
Key information for new parents on our website
These key sections of the school website are relevant to all new parents:

Home Learning
All children complete their home learning activities via SeeSaw, our online learning platform. We have already provided you with a username and password for your child to login. If you have not received this, please let us know by emailing the school office. You can find the address at the foot of this page. Home learning will usually consist of:
- Weekly spelling list – high frequency words, words following a spelling rule, new curriculum statutory requirements for spelling
- Reading daily
- Times tables practice; we use Times Table Rock Stars and will provide your child with login information when they join us.
- Two pieces of maths home learning per week. These are only ten minute activities and are revision of what has been taught in maths that day or week.
