This summer, between paddling in the sea and splashing in the pool, why not take part in the Summer Reading Challenge?

This year, the Summer Reading Challenge has a new name after Roald Dahl's book 'The BFG' and is showing in cinemas during the holiday period. The challenge is to sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice during the holidays.

There are lots of ways to find some great books to read. There is a list of great list of Reading Ideas here on the school website. You could also try out the Big Friendly Read 'Book Sorter' which will help you find a book with a particular theme. Of course, you could also visit your local library and spend some time browsing the many books they have for you to borrow.

The Summer Reading Challenge website includes some additional things to do when you aren't reading. There are some fun games to play and you could enter the Summer Competition.
