Friday 23rd June played host to Hook Junior School's annual sports day. For children and parents alike, it is always a calendar date to look forward to and this year's competition did not disappoint with all four Houses teams in fine form and competitive spirit.

Starting with the thirteen rotational activities, children gave their all to earn valuable points for their House. Netballs were aimed, shot putts were thrown and Miss Smith and her committed team battled against the wind to keep the hurdles in place for her activity. There were some outstanding performances, including some of the longest javelin throws the school has ever seen.

While children recharged during their break with fruit kindly provided by Tesco, the HSPA raised some valueable funds for the Infant and Junior schools at their refreshment stall. Children then refocused their attention on the series of races that made up the second part of the event. Hurdle races were first, followed by long distance and finishing with sprint races and relays. With each team aware of the importance of the final points up for grabs, the competition intensified between House teams as each race was completed.

The event concluded with the announcement of the final placing for each house in the event with Brunel being this year's victors! A huge well done to all the children who played their part and contributed to what was an excellent event.

Thank you also to everyone who came along and supported the children - this year our Sports Day audience was the largest in recent years. A special thank you to Tesco for supporting another key event in our school calendar and the HSPA for their time serving drinks. There are many school staff and volunteers who work hard to ensure that sports day is a success each year anf we would like to express our thanks for their contribution.
