Safer Internet Day 2016

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day 2016 will take place on the 9th February and Hook Junior School is getting involved with the theme for this year 'Play your part for a better Internet!'.

Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, Safer Internet Day sees hundreds of organisations help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. It's a day to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. Safer Internet Day calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet. The UK Safer Internet Centre has provided a range of resources for parents and carers and it's really important that you also get involved, engage with the Safer Internet agenda and help your children get the most out of the Internet in a safe and positive manner.

In school, children will be involved in a number of activities including an assembly led by our Digital Leaders and classroom activities and discussion around the theme of 'Play your part for a better Internet!'.

Throughout the week, we will be sharing a number of useful Internet safety resources for children and parents via the school website and the school Facebook page.

Remember that the here on the school website we have an e-Safety Guide - a whole section of e-safety advice and guidance for parents and carers to help you and your children make safe use of the Internet and the many wonderful and exciting resources and experiences it offers us.
