Plan of Work for Year 5

In order to ensure that     all aspects of the National Curriculum are covered, each year group has a plan of the work that they will follow during the course of the year.  For each subject, there will be a focus in class on one topic each half term. You can help your child by talking to them about these topics and seizing opportunities for first hand experience as they arise.

  Reading List

Each term, we give the children a list of recommended books which are linked into our Reading Award scheme.  These lists reflect a particular genre or theme that the children are studying in class.  Over the course of their time at Hook Junior School, the children will be introduced to a wide variety of genres and subjects within these lists, thereby enlarging their reading experiences. Please help us by encouraging your child to choose books from the list, either at school or at the local library, and talking to them about what they are reading.
