Activemark
We have made links with many external agencies and receive a lot of support from parents and staff, all of whom have contributed to the school's sporting achievements, our accreditation with this award and the valuable impact this has on our children, their enjoyment of school life and the school's ethos. |

Investors in People
In January
2007 Hook Junior School was again recognised as an "Investor in
People."
The good quality systems we have in place for the induction and
development of staff help us achieve our school's aims and work towards our
school vision. |

Healthy Schools
"Healthy
Schools Enhanced Status." Many people
assume it must be to do with the encouragement of healthy eating and keeping
fit. Indeed, it can be. However, there are ten possible strands of the award
and each school is encouraged to choose the two that they think are most
relevant to them at the time. Over a period of years, it is hoped that each
strand will be covered.
At Hook
Juniors we are working towards being assessed on the "Environment"
and "Drug Education" strands. Within each focus area we have
highlighted several targets for the school: Drug
Education. ·
To have an up to date school policy on drug education, in line
with Hampshire and Government guidelines; ·
To review our teaching programme on drugs, smoking and alcohol as
part of the P.S.H.E curriculum;
·
To keep up to date with initiatives, such as our recent whole
school assembly linked to National No Smoking Day. The
Environment.
·
To make playtimes more enjoyable for the children, by introducing
new playground equipment and games. We also now have a team of
'playground pals' who have volunteered to look after the buddy benches and
supervise the games zones. |

In June 2006
Hook Junior School achieved the Artsmark Silver Award in recognition
of our provision in the arts. Artsmark is a
national award scheme managed by Arts Council England that recognises schools
with a high level of provision in the arts. Artsmark provides a benchmark for
arts provision which encourages schools to consider the opportunities they
offer in art, dance, drama and music. The application form for Artsmark acts
as an auditing tool, through which schools may gain an overall picture of
their arts education provision.
By gaining an Artsmark a school shows its commitment to the wider development of young
people and teachers and to raising the profile of the arts in the school and
local community. |
