As construction of the new Junior School building nears completion, changes to access will become effective when children return to school on Monday 24th April.

In December of 2015, we wrote to all parents explaining how school would be expanded with the construction of a new building, comprising four new classrooms, a number of meeting rooms and a new administrative centre.

Construction of the new building on our school grounds is drawing to completion. The building has been officially handed over to the school and the construction team are scheduled to have left site by the end of April. During these final weeks of work, there are some changes to access that we would like to share with you. These changes will be effective when school opens on Monday 24th April 2017.

Separation of Infant and Junior School Grounds

All parents please be aware that the completion of the building work in both the Infant and Junior school's marks the formal separation of both school sites. It will no longer be possible for children or parents to access one school by first entering the other.

Construction work is currently scheduled for completion on Friday 5th May. When work is complete, access for children and parents via the Infant School Hall will no longer be possible. All children and parents are required to access the Junior School via a gate at Hartlett’s Park or Mitchell’s Field only. Access to the Infant School is possible via a gate in Hartlett’s Park (marked 2 on the site map) and following the footpath around the outside of the Junior School hall. When construction work is complete, a further gate will provide direct access from Hartlett's Park to the Infant School (at the position marked 2 on the site map).

Change of Administrative Centre

From Monday 24th April 2017, the school reception and administrative offices will be located at the front of the new building, immediately opposite the new gate in the corner of Hartlett's Park. The new school entrance and reception is marked number 4 on the site map and the new gate is marked number 2. All enquiries should be made at this new school office and not the existing entrance off the main playground. The old school reception entrance doors will be locked at all times from Monday 24th April - access will not be possible for children, parents or visitors.

Pedestrian Access to the School Grounds

At morning drop off and afternoon collection, access to the Junior School is via pedestrian gates off Mitchell's Field (the 'main playground' gate, marked 3 on the site map), the main entrance at the end of the Community Centre car park (marked 1 on the site map) and the new gate beyond the skate area in Hartlett's Park (marked 2 on the site map). All pedestrian gates will be open for morning drop off between 08:30 and 08:50 and again for afternoon collection between 15:10 and 15:30. Outside these times, access is only via the new gate off Hartlett's Park (marked 2 on the site map) - this includes pre-school and after school clubs, children being taken to or collected from school during the school day and for special school events where parents are invited to visit us during the school day.

Getting to School by Car

The number of available spaces in the Community Centre car park at key times will be considerably higher now that contractors have left site. We recommend that whenever possible, children make their way to school on foot. For parents who must transport children to the Junior School by car, please use the Community Centre car park in preference to other local parking. We expect all parents using the Community Centre car park to respect the access needs of the school, other users of the Community Centre and local residents, driving with care and due attention for children leaving school and anyone in the immediate vicinity.

There will be no changes to parking arrangements in the Junior School grounds. The school car park is strictly for use by staff and authorised persons - we do not permit any parent or carer to use the school car park at any time. School vehicular gates will remain locked during the school day. We remind parents that these gates are on the access route that emergency vehicles may need to use in order to access the Junior and Infant schools and request that you please do not obstruct the gates at any time, no matter how briefly.

School Grounds and Access Points from April 2017

From Monday 24th April 2017, access to the Junior School grounds will be via the entrances marked 1, 2 and 3 on the site map.

From Monday 24th April 2017, the new school reception and administrative centre will be at the front of the new school building marked 4 on the site map.
