Welcome to the Governors section of the Hook Junior School website.

The Governing Body (GB) consists of 14 members which are made up as follows:

5 Parent Governors – elected by parents with a child at the school

3 Local Authority Governors – appointed by the Local Authority

3 Staff Governors – elected by school staff.  This includes the Headteacher and representatives from both teaching and support staff.

3 Community Governors – appointed by the GB to represent community interests.

These different categories of Governor help to ensure that the Governing Body has sufficient diversity of views and experience.

Our main roles are to provide a strategic view of where the school is heading, to provide support and appropriate challenge to the school, acting as a sounding board for ideas and second opinion, and to hold the school to account for the quality of the education it provides.  Above all we are here to help the school provide the best possible education for its pupils.

If you have any concerns regarding our school, please go first to either your child’s teacher and/or the Headteacher.  If, however, you are not satisfied with the outcome then you may wish to contact the Chair of Governors, Debbie Blackmore, by letter via the school office.
